Thibaud Herem

Thibaud Herem is an illustrator and design extraordinaire living and working in London but from France, i think. Simple work that is pretty exciting. I want one of the Moon posters above. I'm going to email him now and get one i think....

Human Empire

After yesterday's posting of Happy Pets from Switzerland, today i have gone for a germany design studio; Human Empire. You should know them already, they have a pretty distinctive style and if you didn't know them you've more than likely seen their work at some point. They really are prolific with a mass of work under their belt, all of which is amazing for amazing clients, they even run two amazing shops in amazing Hamburg. Amazing. Above is a photograph documenting an exhibition of their recent work.

Happy Pets

Happy Pets are a creative studio in Switzerland churning out so much good work I didn't know what to put up here. Above are some photos from exhibitions they have been involved in just to give you a glimpse of their style. Go to their website for LOTS more.

Vincent Pacheco

I'm not always a big fan of collage work (I say that while most of my current work and an exhibition i'm leading upto is going to be collage work...) but some people's really strike me. One person who has it down is the very talented Vincent Pacheco. Loads of it is real minimal compositional stuff on a really simple but effective website.

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

I'm going to hark back to Product Design and show some of my favourite designers, brothers in fact. Ronan & Erwan Bouroullc are genius. They design a lot of stuff for Vitra which is pretty much the best job in the world and then they do wall voverings and partitians and stuff. Its the shit dreams are made of.
What i admire the most is they way they are unafraid to expose their workings (see above). They will happily document the initial sketches and document them. Pretty useful stuff. I think anyway.

Holly Stevenson

Holly Stevenson is a New York City artist who has work with and for everyone good. I've admired her for a long time, its just a shame seeing more of her work is so elusive.

Liz Plahn

Whilst doing my daily visit to Its Nice That i came across Liz Plahn's work. It absolutely took my breath away, so so amazing. Every piece on there is just so thoughtful. My favourite being Untitled (2,000 Artifacts), top, for the sheer aesthetics. Below is a spread from Maybe You Could Call It A Perfect Circle. Go and read the interview with the recent graduate, yes graduate, here.

Ian Dingman

Ian Dingman's work always reminds me i should use watercolour more.

Paul Davis

After a short absence, its not fun being the victim of crime, i've now found time to start doing stuff again. Today, first up is Paul Davis he is amazing. Pictured above are some pictures from an exhibition he currently has at Castor + Pollux in Brighton.

Jim Houser

After a few days without a computer i thought i'd post something pretty damn special. The all elusive artist and poet Jim Houser. This guy is a serious hero to me. Self taught, awesome colours, installations, and man is the type good.

Andy Rementer

Andy Rementer is awesome. Its the kind of work I'd expect myself to not like but I do end up loving. Don't ask me why, I'm just stuck in my ways.
Pictured is a shot from his show at Open Space, NY titled Freakopolis.

Sonnezimmer are Nadine Nakanishi and Nick Butcher. They run a print studio in Chicago and both have great personal art portfolios. They have great ethics, really amazing work and really are two people to look up to.

Seb Wheeler

The Pope’s head has exploded.

PURPLE
BLACK
GOLD

(You are plunged into darkness
The hot glare of a spotlight appears.)

Shop soiled mannequins covered in fake finery
Enter stage left and dance
Upon the surface of a perfect half moon.
They start to throb and sweat,
Yellow grey pearls
Drip melt
Fall between the cracks of old wooden
Boards.

(The bop of a skiffle trio falls through an open window
Would you care to dance?)

I’d rather hang
From the rafters throwing confetti
Torn cut ripped glimmering gloss,
One hundred reflections.
And there they are
Until the dark wears off,
Swapping fake plastic jewellery
Playing Chinese whispers in the corner
Making constellations out of the mess on the
Floor.

(Nobody will notice you leave)

CRIMSON
BRIGHT WHITE
PINK
They put dynamite behind his ears.

Seb Wheeler is amazing. Me and Seb have collaborated on projects of all kinds for years. He has just recently been showing me the poetry he's been righting and its ace. The latest thing we have done together is this, and it looks great.
Above is the poem Head IV.

Hotpants Romance

Hotpants Romance are three girls from Manchester playing pop music. They're the nicest girls on earth and they love to drink. Think The Electrocutes but way, way, way better.

They've got a new album out this year and from the little bit of rehearsal i heard the other day, it sounds awesome!

Look out for the superstar laid on the beach from the Its A Heatwave video, he looks real hot.

Robbie Wilkinson

I've known Robbie for years. We went to college together, we've drunk beers together and i'm pretty sure we've cuddled in bed together. You best ask him though. He's seriously funny and it comes accross in the whole breadth of work on his site.

Owen Richards

Owen Richards is by far THE BEST photographer I know, and there are lots of them. Thinking about it, he could be the nicest guy I know too.

Philip Nicholson

My housemate Phil graduated from Sheffield Hallam University last year and above are photographs from the show. I couldn't make the show but when i saw these pictures i was absolutely blown away. We're off to the Hallam Fine Art degree show this friday and i will be very very surprised if anything top's how amazing these are.
On top of that Phil is a genius and cooks a mean cheesecake.

James Walkerdine

'The first season shows a power-struggle between various townspeople as they try to keep the town civil. The second and third season, shows the town developing and as it develops, we see the impact of new technologies and new prospects that come to light, particularly the implements of a telegraph system and the introduction of a bank. Both of which essentially other towns have to connect themselves to other towns. The second season also shows the inevitable influx of government officials and the power this can hold on the camp. The third season is a progression of the second season and shows how things change within the camp itself. What makes it different is that this time the government has moved directly in and bought out part of the town, essentially muscling its way in to destroy the haven of Deadwood...'

This is my brother and he is a badass. He writes a film review site called The Shame Must Go On and also a new blog called Little Green Notes on the trailers and adverts before the cinematic experience. He'll be proud i called it an experience. Above is an excert from his review of the HBO series Deadwood; watch it, its killer.

Rachel Goodyear

Today I'm going to post people I know well. They are the best. First up is Rachel Goodyear an absolutely amazing artist from Manchester. Her website has a load of her super detailed, beautiful and sometimes, to me, disturbing drawings.

Miranda July

Miranda July is awesome. In my opinion everything she has done is ace, from films to websites for her publications, they are all so simple and really amazing. But firstly, she is an artist, a damn good artist.

Above is a clip from a a film I love, despite what anyone says, yeah you, its good; Me And You And Everyone We Know

Lizzy Stewart

Lizzy Stewart is down my links list and always has something good popping up on her website and blog.

Andy Mueller

When I was just a young man, Andy Mueller, design hero was a big reason why I put pencil to paper. Not only does he have his own agency Ohio Girl, but also finds time to exhibit worldwide alongside other greats, run The Quiet Life and a record label, take photo's and design stuff for Lakai. Jeez...

Nieves

I absolutely love Nieves. I've worked up quite a collection of their stock and back in the days of meoney this is where my wages went. They are your one stop shop for artists zines and a serious heavyweight, in my opinion, in the world of affordable self publishing.
Pictured are books and zines by the equally amazing Stefan Marx, Geoff McFetridge and Maya Hayuk, all i guarantee i will blog soon enough.

Evan Hecox

With the first of my posts today...Evan Hecox. A seriously tallented man who is associated with the Arkitp Magazine crowd, which is probably the best place to find his work.
There are a lot of people who aspire to be this man, me included, but no one quite pulls it off.
